More information on Rollerball and Ballpoint pens

by team UAB

Since the question came up after Elise's presentation and I was curious, I thought I would find out what was unique to the different pen types. The basic difference comes down to the ink. This link is to a Wikipedia article. I reviewed a number of sites, but this one had more complete information about the differences of rollerball and the advantages versus disadvantages. I will also include some other links below for your interest.

I thought this was interesting. I knew there was that much science in something so small that we use every day. You learn something new ever day.

AD and CG - it's true. forensics can pop up anywhere. for any item that leaves behind something, you just have to ask, is there any way that this can be matched to something in the depositing device (i.e. pen)? Then ask, how many other devices could also leave this behind (i.e. many pens have the same type of ink)?
